Attitude of Gratitude

A few weeks back, I was teaching a young people's Sunday School class, and the topic was thanksgiving.

While preparing, I read 1 Thes. 5:18, "In every thing, give thanks: for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you."

Happy Thanksgiving!

We wish you a very happy and blessed Thanksgiving! Today, we'd like to lift up the Lord's name by re-sharing this beautiful experience as recorded in the Detroit Branch 1 history. It's also in the general church history book, too. We hope this draws your heart closer to God on this day of thanks.

It Is Well With My Soul

Some blogs are light-hearted, other more serious. This blog focuses on a more serious topic.

Have you ever wondered about why innocent people die in earthquakes or tsunamis? Have you ever surfed the TV channels and come across photos of poor starving children in Africa? Have you ever questioned God, asking why do bad or terrible things happen to innocent children and good people?

Always Enough

This is the last food-related Miracle Monday! Today's article was submitted by Sister Lydia Link. If you haven't submitted a Christmas miracle for next month, please This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.!

Every Saturday, my mother, Sister Valenti, prepared food for our family of nine for Sunday's after-Church dinner. Occasionally, two or three visitors from other branches attended our branch. My mother would never let them leave without inviting them to have dinner at our home.

Refresher

Sometimes, I need a refresher. I don't know about you, but life is coming at me full tilt. If life could speak, it would scream right in my face, "Here I am, and I ain't stoppin'!"

Do you have any clue what this verse means?

Squash It

Squash It

There is a story my mom used to tell about me when I was a little girl. My family was invited to share dinner with dear friends. Upon arrival, I took one look at what was being served and exclaimed, "Ooooh, squash! I hate squash!" Of course, this was a royal embarrassment to my parents, but it is a story that for many years brought about a good chuckle.

Making an Impact (One Young Person's Testimony)

By Francesca Dino

Living in the Denver area, I am blessed with a small but close congregation at my mission. I always feel safe coming every Sunday morning to see the same friendly faces. Over the years, our small mission has been fortunate to have many visitors.

Last year, Brother Dwayne and Sister Elaine from Tse Bonito, New Mexico came and visited our group. They were a pleasure to have around, and it was even better to sit down with them and watch a slide show on Vacation Bible School from around the church.

He's Enough

A few weeks ago, my university hosted a Poverty Awareness Day, where we had an Awareness Fair on our student union’s lawn. At every table, there were pictures of starving children and their ailing mothers or over-worked fathers. The people I talked to told me about their dealings in some of the world’s poorest countries, and it really got me thinking.

Dodging Puddles

They are those two words that make even the bravest parent want to run and hide: POTTY TRAINING! That marvelous joy has come to our house in the recent weeks as our daughter Abigail is now 2 ½ and ready to move into greater levels of independence.
